Pixi is designed to support FERPA-aligned classroom use by minimizing student data collection, protecting data in transit and at rest, and giving educators control over instructional workflows.

Key FERPA-Aligned Practices

Data minimization: Student-identifying information is optional in core teaching workflows.
No raw audio retention: Voice input is processed for classroom functionality and is not retained as raw audio recordings.
Encrypted transport: Application traffic is served over HTTPS.
Access controls: Authenticated account access and session controls help limit data exposure.
Operational safeguards: Logging, backup, and retention controls are used to support secure operations.

District and School Responsibilities

FERPA compliance is a shared responsibility. Schools and districts remain responsible for policy decisions, consent workflows where applicable, and configuration choices for their own educational environments.
